As we come to live more and more of our lives in an online, virtual world, we leave digital traces that identify us: our "(e)dentity." Many of these traces are left unconsciously through web sites we visit, ads we click, emails we send, items we buy, and so on. All this information is mined by various online entities seeking both to benefit you and benefit from you.
(E)dentity, edited by Stephanie Vie, is a collection of articles, excepts, and essays exploring issues created or magnified by our online presence. Do Facebook and Twitter bring us together or drive us apart? Are we shaping the internet, or is the internet shaping us? How does the availability of our online selves alter our understanding of friendship and privacy? Students are asked to consider these questions and more through discussion and writing.
(E)dentity is part of the Fountainhead Press V Series aimed at engaging students in a single topic to provide them a platform for practicing critical thinking and writing.
