Dr. Kelsey M. Finn and Wendy S. Stuttgen, Ed.S., a mother-daughter pair, have come together and combined their respective professional expertise to share this informative, thoughtful story of dyslexia, a condition that affects approximately 15-20% of the population. This book is intended to serve as a way to communicate with children about dyslexia and help children understand what it means for them and/or someone they know affected by dyslexia. It is also intended to increase understanding, awareness, and acceptance of dyslexia by all.

Early Reading Development and Dyslexia

Valerie Muter focuses on how children learn to read and on the difficulties some children have in acquiring this skill. Concentrating on the 4-7 year age group, she considers how children gain reading skills and draws on research focusing on the language abilities needed to facilitate reading.
