The Last Chronicle of Man, by Laszlo Kovacs, is a wonderful and beautiful book of love and hate, good and evil, dawn and sunset, life and death, spring and winter, with miracles scattered about here and there. It will be the most amazing book you have ever read.I am speaking from my own experience of having read it and fell in love with it. I am a Ph.D., a Professor Emeritus of Philosophy and Religion, who is 75 years old. I read continuously. This is THAT BOOK we can all agree we would want to take with us if we were only allowed one book. This is that book for the desert island or for the stormy waves of human emotion that float on the great energy table called "NEW YORK CITY."I've read the great philosophical and religious classic texts of the West, the great philosophical and religious texts of the East---Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism---I've been introduced to the sacred mysteries of the Native American ceremonies and of the Tibetans, I've published hundreds of books and papers and poems, read thousands more, and if you took all I've read and bundled it up into one package you still wouldn't have all the mystery and truth and love and devotion that you would get from reading THE LAST CHRONICLE OF MAN.In short, THIS IS THE BOOK. Alan Watts tried to write one but his isn't even a cartoon version of this GREAT BOOK. Everything in Jung's THE JOYOUS COSMOLOGY is in this book even though there are neither photographs nor paintings.I'm sure you will agree after you read it, though it will take a lot longer than you think. It is a huge book and I envy you the joy you will experience as you read through it for the first time.
