Lau is an elderly man born in Holland in June 1940. Holland was at war and occupied by the Germans. He grew up in poverty, his father, a military hussar, was a prisoner of war from a few days after the German invasion. After the war, for Lau, all soldiers were American, and Americans were his great heroes. Without too much education, Lau worked his way up to become a successful businessman in naval shipping. Due to circumstances, he ended up in Indonesia in early 1992 and stayed there for 15 years, read his adventure in the book “Caught in Jakarta,” also available at Google Play Books. In 2007, he returned to his homeland. He lost his heart to Indonesia. In 2017, by chance, he met an Indonesian self-proclaimed princess who was a celebrated artist in her country.
